PE Kit

This year, we have adapted our school PE kit to reflect the current climate. All children have been provided with a purple school hoody and black jogging bottoms. This is what they will wear to school on the day they have PE. We ask that all children wear black plimsolls on that day too. Jewellery should not be worn at anytime in school (no earrings allowed). Finally, shoulder length and long hair should be tied back.

The PE Curriculum

A wide range of activities are delivered in school which aim to engage and inspire all children. We aspire to provide at least 2 hours per week of high quality well-planned PE.

Over the year each child will participate in games, athletics, dance and gymnastics lessons. Sporting activities include football, cricket, tag-rugby, basketball, netball, tennis, hockey, cross country and golf. Workshops are also provided to capture all interests including Hoola Hooping and skipping. All children gain access to the Middlesbrough Council Swimming Programme. Our aim is that all children leave our school at the end of Year 6 able to swim 25 metres.

Adventurous activities in Year 6, include rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, problem solving, orienteering and archery which are delivered while they attend an annual residential at Robinwood Activity Centre, Barhaugh Hall, Alston in Cumbria.

Talented children are signposted to local clubs and events to encourage them to develop their skills. Most recently some children joined a county athletics event and various football clubs.

All teachers provide a wide range of extra-curricular clubs for children throughout the year. We track all of our children’s participation in school clubs and sporting events in order to ensure we can provide something for all. We also monitor Pupil Premium Children’s access to sports.
